An Advocate for…

    • Addressing disparate outcomes for Black and Latinx students and white students;

    • Hiring & retaining teachers of color, particularly Latinx teachers and Black male teachers;

    • Ensuring avenues of communication for parents of color with DPS, particularly low-income and working class parents; and

    • Monitoring and increasing BIPOC students’ opportunities for academic and other forms of enrichment.

    • Developing policy that sets a standard for our responsibility to gender nonconforming students, LGBTQ+ students, and LGBTQ+ families, and

    • Working with school leaders to ensure that policies are implemented successfully.

    • Building upon and develop plans to ensure adequate staffing;

    • Ensuring that teachers have sufficient planning time to choose effective teaching strategies, design lessons, prepare materials, grade and assess student progress, and collaborate with colleagues;

    • Securing additional financial compensation where appropriate and possible; and

    • Creating opportunities for support, mentoring, and professional development.
